Making Learning at Home Fun

When we think of learning activities, we tend to think of School. Maybe even a school building itself. This notion is that in order for your child to receive stellar learning you have to go somewhere. Not necessarily true. When your child's at home, you're their teacher. But everything doesn't have to feel like a classroom lesson. Get your kids excited about discovering something new by disguising the learning activities as a fun time. Try these engaging and effective activities that you can do at home.

Play Learning Games

Learning can be put in motion by playing games that get your Preschooler on their feet moving! Start with basics- a rhythm song or poem counting out colors, numbers, or days of the week. A game to find the animal in the room or find the missing sock to make the match. What you choose to teach with this game is only limited by your imagination.

Basic Phonics Learning

One of the most wonderful gifts you can give your child is teaching them to read. Assisting your child in reading readiness with learning the basics- letters make certain sounds. Create Learning phonics a fun quest. Doesn’t have to be a stationary act of staying in your chair repeating sounds. Instead, hunt for letters, make alphabet books.

or bring out the sand and place it in the roasting pan. First, you draw the letter in the sand while sounding out the letter. Then have your child trace the letter and repeat the sound three times.

Practice Writing

Teaching your child to write is something they will take with them for the rest of their life. Skills of Pencil to paper and beyond. Help them learn the alphabet and the motions of each letter. Connect the dots. Use Play-Doh to shape letters or draw letters in shaving cream. Bring out the sand and place it in the roasting pan. First, you draw the letter in the sand while sounding out the letter. Then have your child trace the letter and repeat the sound three times. They'll be entertained and better prepared for school.

Preschoolers have an appetite for learning their colors. A pack of colorful pom-poms and an ice tray gives them a fun activity to learn how to count, and start sorting, which also encourages gross motor skills. At the same time, you're helping them develop their fine motor skills by letting them pick up the tiny objects.

Expanding Counting Skills

Teaching your child how to count and recite numbers seems so simple but a great place to start and opens the house to so much more.

In an article published by; Rushton, S. Neuroscience, Early Childhood Education and Play: We are Doing it Right!. Early Childhood Educ J. 2001 that research shows that hands-on projects activate kids' brains and help them learn better.

If your kids are showing they are ready for a challenge try an alternative of the game that will help them to think beyond counting how many objects they actually see before them.

Math is all around us. It is interwoven into our everyday lives. Perhaps adding the number of white jerseys to the number of blue jerseys equals how many total players on big sisters soccer team.

Explore World Cultures

A little creativity help teach your child about world cultures in a way that will make learning fun while enriching their awareness of other people's traditions and ways of life.

For example, pick ato “visit” another part of the world by cooking together cookies from another part of the world. https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/swedish-butter-cookies/ Enjoy them while having book time learning more about kids from that region-https://www.swenglish.life/shop/p/counting-sweden.

Allow yourself to think outside the box. Remember when you were your child’s age. What ways of learning and fun activities did you get excited about?
